This beautiful species of nudibranch or sea slug is found in the Eastern Pacific Ocean from Alaska south to California (
Goddard, 2000). It occurs in several habitat types, including rocky shores near the tide line, and on pilings and docks. Diet includes "a wide variety of prey, including arborescent and foliose bryozoans, small prosobranchs and crustaceans, hydroids and ascidians" (
Goddard, 2000). This species, like others in the genus, is translucent with large, broad cerata. The color varies from white through rose pink to a rufus shade..." (
